Every day I get to see women getting stronger. For many of them, why they strength train comes down to feeling better and being able to do the things they want to do. Read Nancy’s story:
“I’m 52 years old, and I was starting to feel weak and tired. I knew I needed to do something to regain my health. Kathy’s GetStrong! workouts have been a great challenge and a terrific support to my fitness goals. One big test of my progress came in April (eight months after I started strength training) when I went on a mission trip to Cambodia with a group of high school students. We spent the week doing physical labor: filling sandbags, planting trees, and picking up lots and lots of trash. I found that working out with Kathy had prepared me well. Squats, deadlifts, bicep curls and bent-over rows – I used them all. I had the strength and endurance to keep up with the teens. Kathy’s insistence on good form paid off; I knew how to protect my back and was able to work hard without injury. I feel healthier and stronger now than I have in 15 years. There are a lot of things I still want to do in life, and I’ve been so grateful for Kathy’s help on my health and fitness journey!”
Nancy started with light weights, or simply used her body weight, until she learned proper form and felt comfortable enough to use more challenging weights. She now bypasses the 5-10 pound dumbbells that reside in the group exercise room and grabs 15s and 20s from the weight room to do many of the exercises in her workouts.

Exercise improves heart health, makes our muscles and bones stronger, and enables us to do the things we want to do in life. “Fit and Healthy” includes a month of individualized programming, to help you live the life you want to live. Assessment, two strength sessions and three cardio sessions each week. Includes weekly check email check ins, access to training app, exercise descriptions and videos. (Program only – $45)
